The Branch Decade 🍊™️ Celebrating 10 year

5 years ago today, I moved to Palm Springs. 🍊🍊🍊

As a native Portlander, I didn’t know what to expect at all the first time I visited the desert for a retreat back in 2012.

The first thing I noticed was how surreal it looked. 👀 The sunlight seemed extra bright and I couldn’t get over seeing trees packed with oranges.

The midcentury architecture was so appreciated and well preserved, like perfect little time capsules. I felt like I’d just stepped onto a movie set in an alternate universe….and quickly fell in love with the strangeness of it all.

When I visited in 2012, Branch didn’t exist yet but I soon found all the inspiration I needed outside my hotel room door. The orange trees scattered around my hotel started influencing the imagery for Branch and the citrus-hued overhang on Norma’s back patio inspired the color palette.

The pieces started clicking. It took another 6 years from that first visit to build a design business and then make my move…but when I finally showed up here for good in September 2018, I knew I’d found the right spot.

To this day, so much of my design and aesthetics are inspired by this place and I’m so thankful to call it home.🧡
