As I started envisioning what I wanted 2023 to look + feel like, the phrase CLEAN SLATE kept rising to the surface.
My 2022 didn’t go as planned as many of the big things I set out to complete fell through the cracks. Launches of new offerings I’d been mapping out didn’t happen as my energy became focused on charting the course ahead for the studio during a very up and down year. I also lacked clarity around some next steps to gain momentum which left me feeling stuck.
As the year came to a close, I didn’t want to hold onto any lingering resentment or disappointment as 2023 loomed on the horizon. Instead, I wanted to embrace a clean slate for the year ahead, knowing that it could be whatever I wanted, without any shadows from the past holding me back.
Clean slate to me represents a fresh start. It exudes optimism and excitement for what’s ahead. A sense of the new. Clarity. Letting more light in. The simplicity and joy of small pleasures like journaling, day trips and time spent with friends.
I created a visual representation of the feeling I wanted for 2023 and as the Pinterest board came together, I started manifesting it into reality in what felt like record time. A never worn white pair of boots shoved in the back of my closet from a past photoshoot made their way onto my feet. A white Zara coat was added to my cart as the weather in Palm Springs cooled down. I traded in my black 2022 journal for a white one in 2023.
The momentum built and with each small shift in my visual exterior world, the bigger shifts in my internal world started to take shape. I felt the optimism of the new year creeping in and like the big goals I’d jotted down last year just weren’t supposed to happen yet.
I began to trust the timing, taking in how many lessons I’d learned during 2022. Everything is happening as it should.
Here’s to taking the time to visualize your ideal existence. What you take the time to imagine can become reality. -Shauna
