The brands that have always moved me most aren’t necessarily the loudest ones in the room.
They’re the ones that have cultivated a point of view so specific and so deeply considered that you recognize them before you even see the logo. That’s the standard I’ve held Branch to since day one and it’s the standard that pushed me to rebuild when I knew we had outgrown what we’d created.
Evolving your own brand is one of the most disorienting creative challenges there is. I think it’s incredibly tricky because you’re not starting from a blank page.
You’re editing something you love, something that has served you and something that carries the weight of years of work and relationship and growth. The temptation to preserve everything is real..but so is the cost of staying somewhere you’ve already left.

As we dug into what needed to shift, we started with the question we ask every client: what is true now that wasn’t true before? The answer was lurking right beneath the surface (and truthfully, it had been for quite some time). Our studio had become sharper and more confident. We needed a system that could hold that maturity without losing the warmth that made Branch recognizable.
So much of this process was about subtraction. We pared back the palette, refined the typography and rebuilt the way visual stories move across the site, both in the Journal and Case Studies. We also gave the work more room to breathe. The result is much more thoughtful and intentional, which is exactly where we wanted to land.

The brands worth studying are incredibly clear and decisive. Branch has always believed that clarity is a creative act. Every decision to include something is also a decision to leave something out. The new Branch is the result of that same discipline applied to ourselves, and it is the most aligned the studio has ever felt.

The brands that endure aren’t the ones that chased every trend or reinvented themselves for the wrong reasons. They’re the ones that kept returning to their core, refining it, deepening it and trusting that the right people would find them. That’s the chapter Branch is in now.
Thirteen years in and we’re feeling more excited aligned than ever before. Thanks for joining us on the journey into this next era. —Shauna
