Hi and happy new-ish year!
It’s been awhile…..and we have a lot of catching up to do! There’s been a lot going on behind the scenes with a new website, revamped newsletter and some new posts going live at the end of the month (if you’d like to get a sneak peek before the relaunch, join our mailing list at the bottom of the page!) but beyond that, there’s also a lot of new work to share, too.
Sometimes it’s easier to start with the most recent projects you’ve completed and work backwards — sharing what’s still fresh on your mind can help build momentum. I know that making the time to share what you’re up to and updating your portfolio can be challenging when you have a million other little things on your to-do list but these 5 reasons are a good reminder of why it should be a priority.
Anyway, let’s talk about the brand new almanac that just wrapped for Gala Darling! This is the third year in a row we’ve designed this book (see 2017 here and 2016 here) but the first year it’s been offered in a print format.
This year, the overall goal was to streamline the format since the content is grouped by months. With divider pages, worksheets and articles flowing in a similar order from chapter to chapter, there needed to be a clear sense of consistency.
To keep things feeling very “Gala” and vibrant, bold pastel gradients were added to the design at the end. The gradient theme carries over onto the front cover with a beach sunrise symbolizing the beginning of the year and a sunset on the back symbolizing the end.
Printing can be very cost prohibitive but by setting this piece up for Amazon CreateSpace, the client had no overhead costs and it was possible for customers to begin purchasing their copies within less than 24 hours of approval!
If you’re curious about using CreateSpace, the quality is really, really good — check out Gala’s unboxing video of the almanac here and see for yourself!
Purchase your very own almanac here and let me know how you like it! -Shauna
